Trailer Tyre Deterioration Found During Inspection

Close-up CSTSC workshop photographs showing why trailer tyre condition is about more than visible tread depth.

These tyres demonstrate a common trailer problem: plenty of apparent tread does not automatically mean a tyre is healthy. Cracking and structural deterioration can develop with age and environmental exposure, particularly on trailers that spend long periods standing.

Tyres are therefore assessed for their overall condition, not just the amount of tread visible at a glance.

Check before a long journey

If a trailer has been stored for months, examine the tyres closely before loading it. Cracking, bulges, exposed cords or other structural damage need attention before the trailer is used on the road.

These images are genuine workshop photographs. The exact parts and repair approach vary by trailer, so this case study should not be treated as a fixed repair specification for another trailer.
