Practical answers to questions customers regularly have before booking trailer work.
Frequently asked questions
Why service a trailer if it is only used occasionally?
Low mileage does not prevent corrosion, seized brakes, tyre ageing, bearing deterioration or electrical faults. Long periods standing can create their own maintenance problems.
Is trailer servicing the same as an MOT?
No. Light trailers generally do not have the same annual MOT process as cars. A workshop service is maintenance and condition inspection, not an MOT certificate.
Will you tell me before carrying out extra repairs?
The aim is to identify defects and explain what is required. Large additional repair work should be agreed rather than silently added.
Can you diagnose a trailer lighting problem?
Yes. We can inspect common trailer-side road-light, plug, cable and connection faults and help distinguish them from tow-vehicle faults.
Can you replace wheel bearings?
Yes, bearing and hub work is part of our trailer repair capability where the correct parts are available.
Do you work on unbraked trailers?
Yes. They still have bearings, tyres, coupling, chassis and electrics that need inspection and maintenance.
Can you repair a trailer that has been standing for years?
Possibly. The trailer should first be assessed for brake seizure, tyre condition, bearing condition, corrosion, lights and structural issues.
Do you use genuine photos on this website?
Yes. The workshop/project photos bundled into this site were supplied by CSTSC/JRGMTS and show real trailer work.
