This set of workshop photographs records several stages of brake and hub work: exposed braking components, hubs/drums in different conditions and the finished drum/hub fitted back to the trailer.
Not every component that looks dirty requires replacement, and not every apparently usable component is fit to return to service. The purpose of strip-down is to assess condition properly and choose the repair that the trailer actually needs.
Condition-based repair
Where parts can be retained safely, unnecessary replacement is avoided. Where corrosion, wear or damage makes a component unsuitable, replacement is the correct repair. The surrounding brake and bearing system is considered as a whole.
These images are genuine workshop photographs. The exact parts and repair approach vary by trailer, so this case study should not be treated as a fixed repair specification for another trailer.
