This workshop example shows why removing the drums matters. With the trailer safely supported and the wheels and drums removed, the internal braking components can be inspected directly.
The photographs show the condition found during strip-down, replacement brake components and the rebuilt assembly. This is the kind of first-hand workshop evidence we use throughout the CSTSC site rather than relying on generic stock photographs.
What a strip-down can reveal
Corrosion, seized mechanisms, weakened springs, worn friction material and damaged hardware can all be hidden behind the drum. Adjustment from outside cannot correct components that are physically deteriorated.
These images are genuine workshop photographs. The exact parts and repair approach vary by trailer, so this case study should not be treated as a fixed repair specification for another trailer.
